आदाहवार्यायुधादिस्पर्शाद्यन्तास् तु याः क्रियाः ताः पूर्वा मध्यमा मासि मास्य् एकोद्दिष्टसंज्ञिताः

Transliteration

ādāhavāryāyudhādisparśādyantās tu yāḥ kriyāḥ tāḥ pūrvā madhyamā māsi māsy ekoddiṣṭasaṃjñitāḥ

Translation

Die rituellen Handlungen, die von den ersten weihevollen Berührungen—mit Feuer, Wasser und den vorgeschriebenen Geräten—bis zu den abschließenden Observanzen reichen, heißen ‘erste Riten’. Werden sie im frühen oder mittleren Teil des Monats vollzogen, so tragen sie in diesem Monat die Bezeichnung „Ekoddiṣṭa“, der Ritus, der einem einzigen bestimmten Verstorbenen gilt.
