Procedure for the Earthen Liṅga Worship

Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Umāpati
Jyotirlinga: Viśvanātha
Sthala Purana: As this is within the Viśveśvarasaṃhitā, the ritual is naturally read as oriented to Viśveśvara (Kāśī): worship of the established Śiva-liṅga with Vedic recitation and abhiṣeka as a means to gain Śiva’s grace and purification.
Significance: Abhiṣeka with Vedic mantras and proper dakṣiṇā is framed as a complete act of śiva-ārādhana that purifies the paśu (bound soul) and disposes it toward anugraha (Śiva’s saving grace).
Mantra: hiraṇyagarbha… (tryṛcā); “devasya tvā…” (abhiṣeka-mantra)
Type: rudram
It teaches that Śiva-worship is completed through both inner devotion and outer dharmic order—mantra-recitation, respectful offering (dakṣiṇā), and abhiṣeka—so the act becomes a disciplined path of grace (anugraha) rather than mere display.
Abhiṣeka is a central Saguna practice directed to Śiva as the worshipped Deity present in the Liṅga; the verse prescribes mantra-guided bathing and proper offerings, aligning Vedic sanctity with Liṅga-upāsanā.
Perform Śiva-abhiṣeka while reciting the indicated mantras, and conclude by offering dakṣiṇā—cultivating humility, purity, and steadiness in mantra-based worship.
