Suta Goswami (narrating Shiva-worship procedure to the sages of Naimisharanya)
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
Sthala Purana: Not kṣetra-specific; concerns the devotee’s self-preparation (ātmopacāra) before approaching Śiva.
Significance: Highlights bhāva (premā) and niyama (proper dress) as part of pilgrimage-like discipline even at home-shrine worship.
Mantra: ‘मानस्तोके’ इति… ‘नमो धृष्णवे’ इति
Type: rudram
It teaches that even preparatory acts—like tying the waist-cloth and arranging the upper garment—become sacred when done with premā (devotional love) and mantra, aligning the body and mind for Shiva’s worship.
This is part of the external purity and readiness (ācāra) expected before approaching Saguna Shiva in Linga-worship; disciplined attire supports steadiness, reverence, and focused offering to the Linga.
A simple ritual practice: dress mindfully for puja—tie the waist-band and place the uttarīya while reciting the given mantras, cultivating devotion and one-pointedness before beginning Shiva’s worship.
