Pārthiva-pratimā Pūjā-vidhāna — Procedure for Worship of an Earthen Icon

Sūta Gosvāmin (narrating to the sages at Naimiṣāraṇya, as typical for the Vidyeśvarasaṃhitā frame)
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
Sthala Purana: Not a Jyotirliṅga passage; it prescribes Gaṇeśa worship for worldly siddhi (abhīṣṭa) with calendrical specificity (Friday, Caturthī, Śukla-pakṣa, Śrāvaṇa/Bhādrapada).
Significance: Highlights preparatory/auxiliary devotion: Vighneśa removes obstacles to dharma and Śiva-pūjā; fruit stated is bhūrloka-siddhi (this-worldly fulfillment).
Offering: naivedya
It teaches the Shaiva ritual principle that obstacles to dharma and worship are removed by first honoring Vighneśa; when impediments are cleared, one’s rightful aims (abhīṣṭa) can manifest even in worldly life, supporting steady progress toward Shiva-bhakti.
In Shiva-centered practice, Gaṇeśa is invoked at the beginning so that Linga-pūjā and other Saguna Shiva rites proceed without interruption; the verse highlights preparatory worship that safeguards the main Shiva-upāsanā from vighnas (hindrances).
Perform Vighneśa-pūjā especially on Śukla Caturthī falling on Friday in Śrāvaṇa or Bhādrapada—offering devotion and prayers for obstacle-removal before undertaking Shiva worship, japa (e.g., Pañcākṣarī), or vratā observances.
