Nandikeśvara: Incarnation, Consecration, and Marriage—Description
Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pashu
Type: stotra
It praises Gaṇapati as beyond decay and sorrow, pointing to a Shaiva understanding of divine grace: the Lord’s attendants and family embody the imperishable, protective power that removes obstacles and supports the seeker’s steadiness on the path to liberation.
In Saguna Shaiva practice, devotion to Shiva is naturally accompanied by reverence to Gaṇapati as Shiva’s divine ally who safeguards worship and removes impediments, enabling focused Linga-pūjā and stable bhakti.
Begin Shiva worship with a Gaṇapati invocation and cultivate a sorrowless, steady mind; practically, chant a Gaṇapati mantra before japa of the Panchākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) to remove obstacles and strengthen concentration.
