(Avadhūteśvara-līlā) — Śiva Tests Indra’s Pride on the Way to Kailāsa

Tattva Level: pati
Sthala Purana: Not a specific Jyotirliṅga episode; it concludes Indra and Bṛhaspati’s successful darśana of the Lord after a purposeful journey, emphasizing Śiva’s accessibility through grace.
Significance: Models tīrtha-yātrā as darśana-oriented: the ‘fruit’ is fulfillment (kṛtārthatā) through Śiva’s anugraha rather than mere travel merit.
It teaches that Shiva’s darśana is itself the fulfillment of one’s highest aim—when the Lord is directly realized by grace, the seeker becomes kṛtārtha (purpose-complete) and returns inwardly established in peace.
The verse highlights darśana—meeting the Lord in a tangible, approachable way—reflecting Saguna Shiva worship, commonly accessed through Linga-upāsanā where devotees seek Shiva’s presence and blessing.
Seek Shiva’s darśana through steady japa of the Panchakshara (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) and disciplined pūjā; inwardly, cultivate devotion and surrender so the ‘journey’ culminates in Shiva’s grace.
