The Account of Śiva’s Manifestation as Vaiśyanātha
Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Mahādeva
Sthala Purana: Not tied to a single sthala; portrays bhakti progressing from pūjā (sampūjya) to sevā (sevantī) to kīrtana-nṛtya—classic bhakti-lakṣaṇas culminating in felt immediacy of Śiva’s glory (sadyaśaḥ).
Significance: Frames ‘service to Jagadīśvara’ as a portable pilgrimage: constant attendance (sevā) and kīrtana are themselves meritorious and grace-invoking.
Type: stotra
Offering: pushpa
It teaches that steady, daily worship and heartfelt service to Jagadīśvara Śiva—expressed through kīrtana (singing) and devotional movement—purifies the soul (paśu) and draws the Lord’s grace, which is central to liberation in a Shaiva Siddhanta mood.
The verse emphasizes sampūjā (proper worship) and nitya-sevā (constant attendance), which aligns with Saguna worship of Śiva—commonly through the Śiva-liṅga—followed by praising His manifest glory (yaśas) as a devotional continuation of ritual.
Maintain nitya-pūjā of Śiva (often liṅga-pūjā), then practice kīrtana/japa—especially the Panchākṣarī “Om Namaḥ Śivāya”—as ongoing sevā; devotional singing is implied as a simple, repeatable sādhanā.
