Tattva Level: pashu
Type: stotra
Role: liberating
It declares the fruit (phala) of devoted listening or facilitating recitation: fulfillment of righteous aims in life and, ultimately, supreme moksha through Shiva’s grace.
Śravaṇa and kīrtana of Shiva’s glory are forms of Saguna-upāsanā; by hearing the Purana with devotion, the mind becomes samāhita (steady), supporting Linga-bhakti that culminates in liberation.
Regular śravaṇa (hearing) and pāṭha (recitation) of Shiva Purana with bhakti and mental composure; it can be paired with simple Shiva upāsanā such as japa of “Om Namaḥ Śivāya” and attentive listening during vrata or Mahāśivarātri observances.
