Description of Shiva’s Pañcabrahma Avatāras
Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Sadyojāta
Cosmic Event: delegation of sṛṣṭi-śakti at the opening of a kalpa
It establishes Shiva (Pati) as the ultimate source of both jñāna (liberating knowledge) and śakti (effective power), showing that even Brahmā’s creative function proceeds only by Shiva’s grace.
Sadyojāta is a Saguna revelation of Shiva—worshipping Shiva in form (including the Linga) aligns the devotee with the Lord who bestows knowledge and empowers righteous action, just as He empowered Brahmā for sṛṣṭi.
Contemplate Shiva as the giver of jñāna by japa of the Panchakshara mantra “Om Namaḥ Śivāya,” offering water to the Shiva-Linga with the intention of seeking inner clarity and right spiritual understanding.
