अत्रीश्वरमाहात्म्यवर्णनम् (Atrīśvara-māhātmya-varṇanam) — “Account of the Greatness of Atrīśvara”
सूत उवाच । इति श्रुत्वानसूयाया वचनं सुखदं सताम् । गंगोवाच प्रसन्नाति ह्यत्रेर्दास्यसि मेऽनघे
sūta uvāca | iti śrutvānasūyāyā vacanaṃ sukhadaṃ satām | gaṃgovāca prasannāti hyatrerdāsyasi me'naghe
Suta Goswami (narration); Ganga (direct speech within the verse)
Tattva Level: pashu
Role: nurturing
It highlights how śravaṇa (reverent listening) to the words of the virtuous brings auspicious outcomes; purity (anagha) and dharmic intention invite divine grace, here shown by Gaṅgā’s pleased response.
Though not naming the Liṅga directly, the verse reflects a core Shaiva ethic: divine grace responds to sattva, humility, and dharma—qualities that also underlie fruitful Saguna Shiva worship and tīrtha-yātrā associated with Kotirudra’s Jyotirliṅga narratives.
The implied practice is śravaṇa and smaraṇa—listening to and remembering sacred discourse with purity of intent; as a Shaiva takeaway, pair such listening with japa of “Om Namaḥ Śivāya” for inner cleansing and steadiness.
