दशशैवव्रतप्रश्नः — Inquiry into the Ten Principal Śaiva Vratas
Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Mahādeva
Sthala Purana: General arghya-upacāra instruction; no specific Jyotirliṅga is invoked. The vocative 'hare' indicates a narrative setting where Sūta addresses (or echoes addressing) a Vaiṣṇava interlocutor/audience, underscoring Śiva’s worship as universally appropriate.
Significance: Teaches respectful reception (arghya) to Śiva using readily available fruits—an inclusive, household-friendly ritual grammar.
It teaches that sincere bhakti expressed through simple, pure offerings—such as fruits used for arghya—becomes a valid means of honoring Pati (Śiva), aligning outer ritual with inner devotion.
Arghya is a standard upacāra in saguna worship of Śiva, commonly offered to the Śiva-liṅga; the verse emphasizes acceptable, sattvic materials (fruits) for this respectful offering.
Perform Śiva-pūjā by offering arghya using banana fruit or assorted fruits, ideally while maintaining Śiva-smaraṇa and reciting Śiva-mantras such as the Pañcākṣarī (Om Namaḥ Śivāya).
