Śivapūjā-stuti: Deva-Ṛṣi-Paramparāyāṃ Śaṃkara-caritasya Prastāvaḥ
Prelude to Śaṃkara’s narrative and the lineage of Śiva-worship
Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Umāpati
Sthala Purana: Not a Jyotirliṅga episode; highlights nitya-pūjā of a pārthiva (clay) liṅga as a widely accessible vrata-like practice.
Significance: Models daily devotion (nitya-sevā) and the Siddhānta idea that disciplined worship prepares the Paśu for Śiva’s anugraha.
Type: panchakshara
Shakti Form: Aditi
Role: nurturing
Offering: pushpa
It praises steady, love-filled daily Śaiva practice: devotion (prema-bhakti) expressed through consistent worship purifies the soul (paśu) and orients it toward Shiva (Pati), making the heart fit for grace.
It explicitly highlights pārthiva-śiva-pūjā—worship of Shiva in a tangible Liṅga form made of earth—showing Saguna upāsanā as a direct, accessible means to approach the transcendent Shiva through reverent form.
Daily Parthiva Liṅga pūjā is implied: fashioning a clay Liṅga, offering water/flowers, and repeating Shiva’s mantra—especially the Panchakshara “Om Namaḥ Śivāya”—with heartfelt devotion.
