Sthala Purana: Candra, afflicted by dakṣa-śāpa (waning), performs Śiva-upāsanā at the supreme tīrtha; Śiva grants restoration and establishes the Someśvara-liṅga, making the place a siddha-tīrtha where intended fruits are fulfilled.

Significance: Saṅkalpa-siddhi (fulfillment of intended aims), pāpa-kṣaya, and strengthening of bhakti through tīrtha-sevā and darśana of Someśvara.

FAQs

It teaches that in Shiva’s sacred tīrthas, the devotee’s sankalpa (inner intention) is honored: the pilgrimage becomes spiritually effective according to the purpose held with faith and devotion.

Kotirudra Saṃhitā centers on Jyotirliṅga-tīrthas; this verse affirms that approaching Saguna Shiva in a consecrated place with a clear intention yields the corresponding grace and result.

Make a clear sankalpa before tīrtha-darśana, then worship Shiva with mantra-japa (especially the Panchakshara ‘Om Namaḥ Śivāya’) and simple offerings, maintaining focused intent throughout.
