Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Mahādeva
Significance: Defines the supreme ‘tāraṇa’ (fording) power: Oṃ-ucchāra and pāda-smaraṇa of Śiva as the sure means to cross saṃsāra—equating liberation with reaching the far shore through His grace.
Mantra:
Type: panchakshara
Role: liberating
It teaches that mantra-japa of “Om” combined with bhakti-filled remembrance of Śiva’s lotus-feet becomes a divinely sanctioned means to transcend saṃsāra and move toward liberation under Śiva’s grace.
Though “Om” points to the supreme reality, the verse anchors practice in Saguna devotion—contemplation of Śiva’s lotus-feet—harmonizing mantra with a personal focus that is also central to Liṅga-worship in the Purāṇic tradition.
Chant “Om” three times with steadied mind, then meditate on Śiva’s lotus-feet as the inner refuge; this can be done as a daily japa-dhyāna practice, especially before or after pūjā.
