Lord Shiva
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Dakṣiṇāmūrti
Role: teaching
It teaches that authentic spiritual instruction must begin with the subtlest core truth (artha-tattva)—the Shaiva insight into Pati (Shiva), Pāśa (bondage), and Paśu (the bound soul)—and only then interpret supporting statements so the seeker is not misled by surface meanings.
It implies that Linga and Saguna worship should be explained from the inner intent: outer forms and rituals are supports that point to Shiva as the supreme Pati; understanding the intended purport prevents reducing worship to mere symbolism or mechanical action.
A disciplined approach to japa and contemplation: learn the subtle intended meaning of Shiva-mantra (such as the Panchakshara) from a competent teacher, then practice with reverence—aligning recitation, bhasma/rudraksha observance (where applicable), and inner understanding.
