Da entbrannte ein heftiger Kampf zwischen den Vānaras und den Rākṣasas – jede Seite forderte die andere wütend heraus, jede sehnte sich nach dem Sieg.
Intense battle took place between the angry Vanaras and Rakshasas challenging one another desiring victory.
Even in war, intention matters: rage and the thirst for triumph can eclipse dharma. The verse sets the stage for evaluating conduct—victory pursued without righteousness becomes morally precarious.
The two armies engage directly; challenges are exchanged and the fighting becomes intense and chaotic.
Valor is present, but the verse especially foregrounds the danger of anger (krodha) as a force that drives escalation.
