Sarga 93: Rāvaṇa’s Grief and Fury after Indrajit’s Fall; Move to Slay Vaidehī and Ministerial Restraint
ततःपौलस्त्यसचिवा्श्रुत्वाचेन्द्रजितोवधम् ।आचचक्षुरभिज्ञायदशग्रीवायसव्यथा: ।।।।
tataḥ paulasya-sacivāḥ śrutvā cendrajito vadham | ācacakṣur abhijñāya daśagrīvāya sa-vyathāḥ ||
Daraufhin berichteten die Minister des paulastischen Königs, nachdem sie vom Tod Indrajits gehört und dessen Schwere erkannt hatten, dem zehnhäuptigen Rāvaṇa, Daśagrīva, in großer Bestürzung die schmerzliche Kunde.
Then, having known about the distressing fall of Indrajith, the ministers of Ravana reported to the ten-headed Ravana.
Truthful reporting in governance is a dhārmic duty; even painful facts must be conveyed to the ruler for right decision-making.
The scene shifts from the battlefield outcome to Laṅkā’s court, where Rāvaṇa is informed that Indrajit has been slain.
