Meine Mittel sind gänzlich erschöpft. Darum steh mir bei und schlag zurück; rette diese Stadt Lanka, in der nur noch Kinder und Greise verblieben sind.
" All resources of mine are exhausted. These children and aged are only left in Lanka city, knowing that you will save the city of Lanka."
A ruler’s adharma endangers innocents: when leadership fails Dharma, the weakest—children and elders—bear the cost. The verse spotlights the ethical weight of kingship.
Rāvaṇa admits depletion of resources and appeals to Kumbhakarṇa to defend Laṅkā, emphasizing the city’s vulnerable remainder.
Protective duty toward the vulnerable is invoked (though ironically by Rāvaṇa), underscoring that true kingship is measured by safeguarding dependents.
