सरमायाḥ सीतासान्त्वनम् तथा रावणनिश्चयश्रवणम्
Saarana Consoles Sita and Reports Ravana’s Resolve
अथतांजातन्तापांतेनवाक्येनमोहिताम् ।सरमाह्लादयामासमहींघौरीमिवाम्भसा ।।।।
atha tāṃ jātasantāpāṃ tena vākyena mohitām | saramā āhlādayām āsa mahīṃ ghaurīm ivāmbhasā ||
Da erfreute Saramā Sītā—deren Schmerz erwacht war und deren Geist durch jene Worte verwirrt wurde—wie Regenwasser die ausgedörrte Erde erquickt.
Thus, Sita's agony was put off by Saarana's consoling words and Sita was glad just as the parched earth was delighted with shower of rain.
Dharma includes compassionate support to the afflicted; Saramā’s consoling action is portrayed as life-giving, like rain to a scorched land.
