Public Opinion and Royal Duty
tataḥ priyāraha-śravaṇātad-apriyaṁ paryādupaśrutya ciraṁ sā maithilī | mumoca bāṣpaṁ subhṛśaṁ pravepitā gajenadāra-hasta-ābhihatā iva sallakī ||
Da hörte Maithilī von ihrem Geliebten Worte, die schmerzlich zu hören waren, und weinte lange; heftig bebend vergoss sie reichlich Tränen, wie eine Ranke, getroffen von der stammgleichen Hand eines mächtigen Elefanten.
