सुन्दरकाण्डे अष्टपञ्चाशः सर्गः
हनुमद्वृत्तान्तकथनम्, सीताभिज्ञान-प्रदानम्, लङ्कादाह-वर्णनम्
तासां मध्यात्समुत्थाय त्रिजटा वाक्यमब्रवीत्।।5.58.84।।आत्मानं खादत क्षिप्रं न सीता विनशिष्यति।जनकस्यात्मजा साध्वी स्नुषा दशरथस्य च।।5.58.85।।
tāsāṁ madhyāt samutthāya trijaṭā vākyam abravīt || ātmānaṁ khādata kṣipraṁ na sītā vinaśiṣyati | janakasyātmajā sādhvī snuṣā daśarathasya ca ||
Erneut erhob sich Trijaṭā unter ihnen und verkündete: „Fresst mich sofort, wenn ihr wollt—Sītā wird nicht vernichtet werden. Sie ist Janakas tugendhafte Tochter und Daśarathas Schwiegertochter.“
"From the midst of all of them got up Trijata, saying, 'You eat me if you like. Know that Janaka's daughter is a chaste woman and is the daughterinlaw of Dasaratha. She cannot be destroyed'.
The same dharmic assertion is repeated: truth and reverence for virtue are used to halt adharma (harm to an innocent, chaste woman).
