अहमप्यस्य भीतास्मि नैनं जानामि को न्वयं।वेद्मि राक्षसमेवैनं कामरूपिणमागतम्।।5.42.10।।
aham apy asya bhītāsmi nainaṃ jānāmi ko nv ayaṃ |
vedmi rākṣasam evainaṃ kāmarūpiṇam āgatam ||
Auch ich fürchte ihn; ich weiß nicht, wer dieser ist. Nur dies weiß ich: Er ist ein Rākṣasa, der hierher kam und nach Belieben Gestalten annimmt.
"I am also scared of him. I do not know who he is. I think he is a demon, who came here assuming a form of his choice.
Satya within vulnerability: even in fear, Sītā speaks carefully—she admits what she does not know and states only what she can infer, modeling truthful restraint.
