Sita’s Lament and Resolve under Threat
नैवास्ति दोषो मम नूनमत्र वध्याहमस्याप्रियदर्शनस्य।भावं न चास्याहमनुप्रदातु मलं द्विजो मन्त्रमिवाद्विजाय।।5.28.5।।
naivāsti doṣo mama nūnam atra vadhyāham asyāpriyadarśanasya | bhāvaṃ na cāsyāham anupradātuṃ malaṃ dvijo mantram ivādvijāya ||5.28.5||
Wahrlich, es trifft mich keine Schuld, wenn ich hier sterbe; ich bin bestimmt, von diesem Abscheulichen getötet zu werden. Ich kann ihm mein Herz nicht geben, so wie ein Brahmane kein Mantra einem Unwürdigen gibt.
"I will not be blamed if I commit suicide now.I stand condemned to death in the hands of this ugly Ravana. I cannot bestow my affection on him or surender to his desire like a brahmin would not like to impart Vedic knowledge to a non-brahmin. (Better die of my own accord than be killed by a sinful ogre).
