ताराशोकविनोदनम्
Consolation of Tara and Counsel on Succession
अङ्गदप्रतिरूपाणां पुत्राणामेकतश्शतम्।हतस्याप्यस्य वीरस्य गात्रसंश्लेषणं वरम्।।
aṅgada-pratirūpāṇāṃ putrāṇām ekataḥ śatam | hatasyāpy asya vīrasya gātra-saṃśleṣaṇaṃ varam ||
Selbst hundert Söhne, Angada gleich an Gestalt, alle zusammen, kommen dem nicht gleich: besser ist es, den Leib dieses Helden zu umschlingen, selbst wenn er erschlagen ist.
'On departing from this mortal world an embodied soul reaps gradually the good and evil fruits of action performed under the notion of virtue or vice with an eye to their good or evil consequences.
Fidelity and truth of affection: Tārā insists that relational dharma is not replaceable by substitutes; love and loyalty are not measured by utility.
Tārā rejects the idea that Aṅgada’s future or other substitutes can compensate for her immediate loss of Vāli.
Constancy: unwavering attachment to her husband, even in death.
