Concept: After completing the second portion of life in gṛhastha, one should enter vānaprastha with spouse and sacred fire—renunciation without abandoning Vedic continuity.
Application: Design a ‘vānaprastha phase’ even today: reduce possessions, increase pilgrimage/retreat time, keep daily worship steady, and shift from acquisition to service and contemplation.
Primary Rasa: shanta
Type: forest

Sandhi Resolution Notes:
It instructs that after completing the second portion of life as a householder (gṛhastha), one should move into the forest-dweller stage (vānaprastha).
It reflects a dharma-based vānaprastha ideal where one continues disciplined living and maintains Vedic ritual continuity (the sacred fire), often with the spouse as a companion in austere, regulated life.
It emphasizes orderly renunciation: withdrawing from worldly life in a structured way—without abrupt neglect of duties—by progressing through the āśrama system with responsibility and restraint.
