मान्यस्थानानि पंचाहुः पूर्वं पूर्वं गुरूत्तरात् । पंचानां त्रिषु वर्णेषु भूयांसि बलवंति च

mānyasthānāni paṃcāhuḥ pūrvaṃ pūrvaṃ gurūttarāt | paṃcānāṃ triṣu varṇeṣu bhūyāṃsi balavaṃti ca

Man spricht von fünf ehrwürdigen Rangstufen, wobei jede frühere gewichtiger ist als die folgende. Und unter diesen fünf gelten innerhalb der drei höheren Varṇas die größeren Ansprüche als stärker.
