Concept: Self-discipline and sacred conduct are partial glimpses (‘pāda-mātra’) of a vaster reality; the cosmic Person with the navel-source underlies creation.

Application: Practice daily self-restraint and ethical conduct while remembering they are steps toward perceiving the larger divine order; cultivate humility—our accounts are ‘partial quarters’ of truth.

Primary Rasa: adbhuta

Secondary Rasa: shanta

Visual Art Cues: {"scene_description":"A vast, luminous Viśvarūpa fills the sky, with a radiant lotus emerging from the navel as the seed of creation. In the foreground, a contemplative sage performs ātma-vidhi—seated in meditation with a small ritual lamp—suggesting that disciplined conduct is only a ‘quarter-measure’ glimpse of the Infinite.","primary_figures":["Viṣṇu (Sanābhi, cosmic form)","lotus from the navel","meditating sage (symbol of ātma-vidhi)"],"setting":"Cosmic expanse blending into a quiet hermitage platform; stars, subtle mandalas, and a lotus-lake motif merging inner and outer worlds.","lighting_mood":"divine radiance","color_palette":["sapphire blue","lotus pink","white-gold glow","violet dusk","emerald accents"],"tanjore_prompt":"Tanjore painting style: Vishnu as cosmic Bṛhad-rūpa with gold-leaf radiance, lotus emerging from the navel, ornate jewelry with gem highlights; below, a small meditating sage with lamp and palm-leaf text, rich reds/greens, heavy gold borders and embossed halos.","pahari_prompt":"Pahari miniature style: lyrical cosmic sky with delicate gradients; Vishnu’s immense form suggested through symbolic limbs and halos rather than full gigantism; a serene sage in the foreground, refined facial features, soft floral border, cool blues and pinks.","kerala_mural_prompt":"Kerala mural style: iconic Vishnu with bold outlines, large eyes, stylized lotus-navel motif; concentric aureoles and mandala patterns; foreground sage in yogic posture, natural pigments with red/yellow/green dominance.","pichwai_prompt":"Pichwai cloth painting style: central lotus-navel motif framed by dense lotus vines and peacocks; Vishnu’s presence suggested through a blue aura and shankha-chakra symbols; intricate floral borders, deep blues and gold, devotional textile symmetry."}

Audio Atmosphere: {"recitation_mood":"meditative","suggested_raga":"Bhairavi","pace":"slow-meditative","voice_tone":"serene","sound_elements":["tanpura drone","soft conch in distance","silence between phrases","gentle bell chime"]}

Sandhi Resolution Notes: bhūya evaṃ → bhūyaḥ evam (visarga sandhi); ca + ātma-vidhim → cātmavidhiṃ; ca + ācaritram → cāritraṃ; ca + eva → caiva; tathā ca eva → tathā caiva; bṛhad + rūpam → bṛhadrūpam.

FAQs

It indicates that the teaching or description given is only a partial measure—figuratively a single “quarter” (pāda)—rather than a complete exposition.

The epithets point to cosmic divinity: “bṛhant/bṛhadrūpa” suggests the all-encompassing, immense form of the Supreme, while “sa-nābhiga” evokes the cosmic navel motif (often associated with the source of creation). The exact identification (e.g., Viṣṇu) depends on the surrounding passage.

It pairs inner discipline (ātma-vidhi, self-knowledge) with outer integrity (cāritra, right conduct), implying that spiritual realization is supported by lived ethical practice.
