FAQs

It reflects formal dharmic etiquette: identifying oneself (name and lineage) before addressing or honoring a revered person or deity, emphasizing humility and propriety.

The key action is “bhaktyā namaskāram”—salutation offered with devotion—showing that reverence becomes spiritually meaningful when grounded in sincere bhakti.

Honor and social esteem (“loka-pūjitaḥ”) are portrayed as compatible with humility: even the respected person bows devotedly, modeling reverence and good conduct.
