Cosmic Time, Cycles of Creation and Dissolution, and the Varāha Uplift of Earth

ब्रह्मणः कुर्वतः सृष्टिं जज्ञिरे मानसाः स्मृताः । ततो देवासुरपितॄन्मानुषांस्तु चतुष्टयं

brahmaṇaḥ kurvataḥ sṛṣṭiṃ jajñire mānasāḥ smṛtāḥ | tato devāsurapitṝnmānuṣāṃstu catuṣṭayaṃ

Als Brahmā das Werk der Schöpfung vollzog, entstanden die sogenannten geistgeborenen Wesen. Aus ihnen gingen die vier Gruppen hervor: Götter, Asuras, Pitṛs (Ahnen) und Menschen.
