evamukto gato viṣṇurdevādīnasṛjadvibhuḥ | abuddhipūrvakastasya prādurbhūtastamomayaḥ

FAQs

It states that Viṣṇu, having been addressed, proceeds to create the devas and other beings, and that a tamas-based (darkness/ignorance) principle also manifests from Him in the sequence of creation.

“Tamomayaḥ” means “made of tamas,” i.e., constituted by darkness, inertia, or ignorance—signaling the emergence of the tāmasic aspect within the created order.

This verse is primarily cosmological: it highlights Viṣṇu as the creator and notes the appearance of a tāmasic principle, rather than directly teaching devotional practice.
