The Greatness of the Jayantī Vow
Fast, Vigil, and Worship of Hari/Kṛṣṇa
Concept: Approaching a realized narrator with humility and urgency is itself a step toward liberation; śravaṇa (hearing) becomes the boat across saṃsāra.
Application: Cultivate daily listening/reading of sacred texts with a sincere question; treat guidance as a lifeline rather than information.
Primary Rasa: karuna
Secondary Rasa: shanta
Visual Art Cues: {"scene_description":"In a forest hermitage assembly, Śaunaka sits with folded hands before Sūta, his face earnest as if standing at the edge of a vast unseen ocean.
Śaunaka asks Sūta to explain both the timing (when people observe it) and the māhātmya (spiritual greatness/effect) of the Jayantī observance.
It is a traditional metaphor: the teacher/narrator is requested to ferry the seeker across confusion and bondage by giving clear spiritual instruction.
The verse models humility and earnest inquiry—approaching a knowledgeable guide and requesting instruction for liberation-oriented understanding.
