Unspecified (narrator addressing a brāhmaṇa: “vipra”)

Concept: Śravaṇa of a sin-destroying adhyāya, supported by Śrī Hari’s kṛpā, eradicates pāpa.

Application: Set a daily practice of listening/reading a small portion of Purana/Gita with attention; treat hearing as sādhana, not entertainment; dedicate the act to Vishnu.

Primary Rasa: shanta

Secondary Rasa: adbhuta

Visual Art Cues: {"scene_description":"A circle of listeners sits on kusa grass in a forest hermitage, eyes closed in attentive śravaṇa as a reciter chants from palm-leaf manuscripts. Above them, an unseen current of Hari’s grace is visualized as a soft blue-gold aura washing away dark smoke-like sin from their shoulders.","primary_figures":["Sūta (reciter)","brāhmaṇa listeners","subtle presence of Śrī Hari (aura or icon)"],"setting":"Hermitage pavilion with palm-leaf texts, water pot, sacrificial fire embers, and a small Vishnu emblem on a cloth-covered stand.","lighting_mood":"golden dawn","color_palette":["dawn gold","smoke gray","peacock blue","sandalwood beige","saffron"],"tanjore_prompt":"Tanjore painting style: Sūta seated on a vyāsāsana holding palm-leaf manuscript, listeners in orderly rows, Vishnu’s symbolic presence as a gold-leaf haloed shaligrama or chakra-emblem above; embossed gold for manuscript edges, ornaments, and aureole; rich reds/greens with devotional solemnity.","pahari_prompt":"Pahari miniature style: serene hermitage gathering, delicate faces turned toward the reciter, soft dawn sky, subtle blue aura suggesting Hari’s grace dissolving dark sin-clouds; refined linework, gentle landscape, lyrical calm.","kerala_mural_prompt":"Kerala mural style: stylized recitation assembly with bold outlines, rhythmic seated figures, manuscript and lamp motifs, Vishnu aura rendered as concentric blue-gold bands; warm earthy pigments and temple-wall gravitas.","pichwai_prompt":"Pichwai cloth painting style: central reciter framed by lotus and floral borders, listeners arranged symmetrically, Vishnu symbols (chakra, shankha) floating like blessings; deep blues and gold highlights, intricate textile patterns."}

Audio Atmosphere: {"recitation_mood":"meditative","suggested_raga":"Bhairavi","pace":"slow-meditative","voice_tone":"serene","sound_elements":["rustling palm leaves","birds in the hermitage","soft tanpura drone","distant flowing water","periodic bell chime"]}

Sandhi Resolution Notes: शृणुयाद्विप्र = शृणुयात् + विप्र; चाध्यायं = च + अध्यायम्; नश्यंति = नश्यन्ति (अनुस्वार-लोप/लेखनभेद); कृपयापि = कृपया + अपि

FAQs

Śravaṇa (devotional listening) to the chapter is praised as a means that destroys sin.

The verse explicitly attributes the destruction of sins to the grace (kṛpā) of Śrī Hari, alongside the act of listening.

It emphasizes humble receptivity to sacred teaching and reliance on divine compassion rather than mere self-effort.
