Concept: Divine grace arrives at the critical moment; devotion to Viṣṇu establishes a higher protection than fear of death.

Application: Anchor daily life in Viṣṇu-smaraṇa (japa, stotra, vrata on sacred days) so that inner ‘messengers of fear’ are met by steadiness and faith.

FAQs

They are the divine messengers of Viṣṇu, traditionally depicted with Viṣṇu’s emblems (conch, discus, mace), who protect those under Viṣṇu’s grace.

It means the abode of Kṛtānta—an epithet of Yama, the lord of death and moral retribution—i.e., Yama’s realm where souls are taken for judgment.

It implies that divine refuge (especially devotion aligned with Viṣṇu) can override the ordinary course of punitive destiny, emphasizing grace and protection for the faithful.
