“Yaduśreṣṭha” means “foremost among the Yadus” and here refers to Vasudeva, who carries out the transfer of the infants.
It describes Vasudeva going to Nanda’s home, placing the male infant with Yaśodā, and taking away Devakī’s daughter in exchange—part of the well-known birth narrative surrounding Kṛṣṇa.
Within the broader Kṛṣṇa-birth account, it highlights providence and protective action in service of dharma—setting the stage for Kṛṣṇa’s preservation and later līlā in Gokula, central to Vaiṣṇava devotion.
