Gaṅgā-māhātmya
Sanatkumara (teaching Narada, addressing 'Devi' within the narration)
Vrata: Akṣayā-tṛtīyā (Akṣayā)
Primary Rasa: bhakti
Secondary Rasa: adbhuta
It teaches that dāna (charitable gifting), specifically suvarṇa-dāna on Akṣayā, yields ‘akṣaya’ merit that ripens as elevated birth—here, entry into a yogic lineage associated with siddhi and spiritual cultivation.
While framed as a ritual act, the verse supports bhakti-informed dharma: offering valued wealth with faith on a sacred observance purifies intent and aligns the giver with higher sāttvika conditions conducive to devotion and yoga.
It implies Jyotiṣa-based calendrical observance (choosing Akṣaya-tṛtīyā) and ritual measurement conventions (māṣa as a weight unit) used in dāna-vidhi.
