Mohinī-Ākhyāna: Rukmāṅgada’s Refusal to Eat on Harivāsara
Ekādaśī
Narada (in an instructional narrative on Ekadashi-vrata; traditional dialogue context within Narada Purana teachings)
Vrata: Ekadashi
Primary Rasa: bhakti
Secondary Rasa: shanta
The verse teaches that Ekadashi-upavasa generates sacred merit and inner purity, and that breaking the discipline through indulgent eating is seen as undermining the fruit of one’s own vrata.
It frames fasting as a devotional act of self-restraint offered to the Lord—protecting the vow is part of honoring Vishnu-bhakti through disciplined conduct.
It emphasizes ritual discipline (vrata-niyama) and calendrical observance tied to tithi-based practice—applied dharma grounded in correct timing and restraint rather than a technical exposition of a specific Vedanga.
