पूर्वविद्धतिथौ दत्तं तद्दत्तमसुरेष्वथ । यदुच्छिष्टेन दत्तं तु यद्दत्तं पतितेष्वपि ॥ ४२ ॥

pūrvaviddhatithau dattaṃ taddattamasureṣvatha | yaducchiṣṭena dattaṃ tu yaddattaṃ patiteṣvapi || 42 ||

Eine Gabe, die an einer bereits „pūrvaviddha“-Tithi (von der vorherigen Tithi durchstoßen und verdorben) gegeben wird, ist, als gäbe man sie den Asuras. Und was mit Essensresten (nach dem Mahl) gegeben wird, ist ebenso, als gäbe man es selbst den Gefallenen, den Unreinen.
