Adhyaya 83 — The Slaying of Mahishasura’s Armies and the Final Death of Mahishasura
Dharma does not merely endure attack—it responds with proportionate, decisive action. The Goddess’ single act neutralizes both the weapon and the wielder, showing the futility of aggression against cosmic order.
A māhātmya episode: it supports Purāṇic purpose (dharma-artha) through exemplary narrative rather than cosmological enumeration.
The enemy trident (often symbolically linked to piercing the threefold world) is fragmented—signifying the breaking of triadic bondage (past-present-future; guṇas) when confronted by awakened śakti.
