मातुः सतीत्वं मद्वंशवैमल्यं शौर्यमात्मनः ।

संग्रामे संत्यजन् प्राणान् नात्यजद् द्विजरक्षणम् ॥

mātuḥ satītvaṃ mad-vaṃśa-vaimalyaṃ śauryam ātmanaḥ |

saṃgrāme saṃtyajan prāṇān nātyajad dvija-rakṣaṇam ||

„(Er wahrte) die Keuschheit seiner Mutter, die Reinheit meines Geschlechts und seine eigene Tapferkeit. Obwohl er im Kampf sein Leben hingab, gab er den Schutz des Zweimalgeborenen (Brāhmaṇa) nicht auf.“
