विराट उवाच क्व स वीरो महाबाहहुर्देवपुत्रो महायशा: । यो मे धनमथाजैषीत् कुरुभिग्रस्तमाहवे,विराटने पूछा--बेटा! वह महायशस्वी महाबाहु वीर देवपुत्र कहाँ है, जिसने युद्धमें कौरवोंद्वारा काबूमें की हुई मेरी गौओंको जीता है? जिस देवकुमारने तुम्हें और मेरी गौओंको भी बचाया है, मैं उस महापराक्रमी वीरको देखना और उसका सत्कार करना चाहता हूँ
virāṭa uvāca kva sa vīro mahābāhur devaputro mahāyaśāḥ | yo me dhanam athājaiṣīt kurubhir grastam āhave ||
Virāṭa sprach: „Wo ist jener Held mit den mächtigen Armen, von großem Ruhm, ein Krieger wie ein Fürstensohn, göttlich geboren? Er war es, der im Kampf mein Vieh zurückgewann, das die Kurus geraubt hatten. Ich wünsche, diesen großen Streiter zu sehen und ihn zu ehren, denn er hat sowohl dich als auch meine Herde beschützt.“
