विराटसभायां पाण्डवानां प्रवेशः — Arjuna’s Encomium of Yudhiṣṭhira in Virāṭa’s Court
दुर्योधनश्वापि तमुग्रतेजा: पार्थश्व दुर्योधनमेकवीर: । अन्योन्यमाजोौ पुरुषप्रवीरी समौ समाजग्मतुराजमीढौ
duryodhanaś cāpi tam ugratejāḥ pārthaś ca duryodhanam ekavīraḥ | anyonyam ājau puruṣapravīrau samau samājagmatur ājamīḍhau ||
Vaiśampāyana sprach: Da stürmte der mächtige Duryodhana auf Arjuna los, und Arjuna—der unvergleichliche Held—stürmte Duryodhana entgegen. Mitten im Kampfgetümmel rannten diese beiden vornehmsten Männer, an Kraft gleich und beide aus der Linie Ajamīḍhas, mit großer Geschwindigkeit aufeinander zu und trafen frontal zusammen. Die Szene betont eine wiederkehrende Spannung des Mahābhārata: persönliche Tapferkeit und königlicher Stolz treiben den Kampf, selbst wenn die größere Ordnung des dharma auf dem Spiel steht.
