अध्याय ५०: उत्तरेण सह अर्जुनस्य रथप्रयाणे ध्वजचिह्नैः कौरवसेनानिर्देशः
Arjuna directs Uttara by identifying Kaurava commanders through banners
चातुर्वर्ण्यस्य कर्माणि विहितानि स्वयम्भुवा । धनं यैरधिगन्तव्यं यच्च कुर्वन् न दुष्पति,ब्रह्माजीने चारों वर्णोके कर्म नियत कर दिये हैं, जिनसे धन भी मिल सकता है और जिनका अनुष्ठान करनेसे कर्ता दोषका भागी नहीं होता
cāturvarṇyasya karmāṇi vihitāni svayambhuvā | dhanaṃ yair adhigantavyaṃ yac ca kurvan na duṣpati ||
Kṛpa sprach: „Die Pflichten der vier Varṇa sind vom Selbstgeborenen Schöpfer festgesetzt worden. Wer die vorgeschriebenen Werke verrichtet, kann auch Reichtum erlangen, und indem er so handelt, lädt er keine sittliche Schuld auf sich.“
