Kīcaka-vadha-pratisaṃjñā: Rumor in Matsya and the Kaurava Scouts’ Report (कीचकवध-प्रतिसंज्ञा)
वैशम्पायन उवाच ततः सहैव कन्याभिद्रौपदी राजवेश्म तत् । प्रविवेश सुदेष्णाया: समीपमुपगामिनी
vaiśampāyana uvāca | tataḥ sahaiva kanyābhir draupadī rājaveśma tat praviveśa sudeṣṇāyāḥ samīpam upagāminī |
Vaiśampāyana sprach: „Darauf trat Draupadī, von den Mädchen begleitet, in die königliche Residenz ein und näherte sich Königin Sudeṣṇā, um in ihrer Nähe stehen zu bleiben.“
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights prudent dharma in adversity: Draupadī maintains careful, respectful courtly behavior while concealing her identity, showing how self-restraint and situational wisdom protect dignity and safety.
After arriving with the palace maidens, Draupadī enters the royal residence and approaches Queen Sudeṣṇā, positioning herself near the queen as she begins her role in the Virāṭa court during the Pāṇḍavas’ incognito year.
