Draupadī’s Grief at Seeing the Heroes in Disguise

Educational Q&A

The verse highlights the ethical tension between royal dharma and personal suffering: even a righteous king’s household is not immune to grief, and true understanding requires acknowledging lived pain rather than treating it as an abstract question.

Draupadī responds sharply to a question about her state of mind, insisting that her grief is inevitable given her circumstances and reminding the listener that her hardships are already well known.
