Draupadī’s Lament and Indictment of Misfortune
नते प्रकृतिमान् वर्ण: कृशा पाण्डुश्न लक्ष्यसे । आचक्ष्व परिशेषेण सर्व विद्यामहं यथा,राजकुमारी द्रौपदीके जगानेपर मेघके समान श्याम वर्णवाले कुरुनन्दन भीमसेन तोशक बिछे हुए पलंगपर शयन छोड़कर उठ बैठे और अपनी प्यारी रानीसे बोले--'देवि! किस कार्यसे तुम इतनी उतावली-सी होकर मेरे पास आयी हो? तुम्हारे शरीरकी कान्ति स्वाभाविक नहीं रह गयी है। तुमपर उदासी छायी है। तुम दुबली और पीली दिखायी देती हो। पूरी बात बताओ, जिससे मैं सब कुछ जान सकूँ
na te prakṛtimān varṇaḥ kṛśā pāṇḍuś ca lakṣyase | ācakṣva pariśeṣeṇa sarvaṃ vidyāham yathā ||
Vaiśampāyana sprach: „Dein Teint wirkt nicht mehr natürlich; du erscheinst abgemagert und bleich. Berichte alles vollständig, damit ich die ganze Angelegenheit genau so erfahre, wie sie ist.“
