The verse highlights how political power and material prosperity can be used as persuasive tools in personal relationships. Ethically, it invites reflection on the difference between rightful generosity and coercive inducement—offering sovereignty and pleasures to secure acceptance.
In Vaiśampāyana’s narration, a man addresses a woman with flattering epithets, declares that he has handed over the kingdom to her as its sovereign, and urges her to accept him and enjoy unsurpassed royal pleasures with him.
