Educational Q&A

A holy place yields its full benefit only to those who cultivate inner purity and self-control; without an ordered and purified mind (kṛtātmā), even access to sacred merit becomes ‘difficult to attain’ in a meaningful sense.

Dhaumya is describing the qualities of the Gokarṇa pilgrimage site—its cool, abundant waters and auspicious, purifying nature—while warning that people lacking inner discipline and purity are not fit to reach or benefit from it.
