Transliteration

grāmān bahūn atikramya nādhyagacchad yathā-tatham | alpa-kārya vinirdiṣṭaṃ tasyāgamanakāraṇam ||

Translation

Bṛhadaśva sprach: „Nachdem er viele Dörfer hinter sich gelassen hatte, vermochte er die Sache nicht so zu erkennen, wie sie in Wahrheit war. Obwohl die von ihm genannte Aufgabe als klein und gewöhnlich beschrieben wurde, ließ sich der wahre Grund seines Kommens nicht mit Gewissheit erfahren.“
