Adhyāya 73: Damayantī’s Investigation of Bāhuka
Keśinī’s Observations
स भीमवचनाद्ू राजा कुण्डिनं प्राविशत् पुरम् । नादयन् रथघोषेण सर्वा: स विदिशों दिश:,भीमके अनुरोधसे राजा ऋतुपर्णने अपने रथकी घर्घराहटद्वारा सम्पूर्ण दिशा- विदिशाओंको प्रतिध्वनित करते हुए कुण्डिनपुरमें प्रवेश किया
Bṛhadaśva uvāca: sa bhīmavacanād rājā kuṇḍinaṁ prāviśat puram | nādayan rathaghoṣeṇa sarvāḥ sa vidiśo diśaḥ ||
Bṛhadaśva sprach: Auf Bhīmas Bitte zog König Ṛtupārṇa in die Stadt Kuṇḍina ein und ließ mit dem Donner seines Wagens alle Himmelsrichtungen und Zwischenrichtungen widerhallen—ein Bild königlicher Macht, die in den Dienst der dringenden Not eines anderen gestellt ist.
बृहदश्चव उवाच
The verse highlights responsive kingship and purposeful strength: royal power (symbolized by the roaring chariot) is not merely for display but can be directed toward aiding others when requested, aligning might with duty and timely action.
In Bṛhadaśva’s narration, King Ṛtupārṇa, prompted by Bhīma’s words, arrives at and enters the city of Kuṇḍina; the sound of his chariot reverberates through all directions, emphasizing the speed and force of his approach.
