दमयन्त्याः व्याकुलता — स्वयंवरसंनिपातः — देवदूतयाचनम्

Damayantī’s Distress, Proclamation of the Svayaṃvara, and the Gods’ Request

अमर्षितो हि कृष्णोडपि दृष्टवा पार्थासतथा गतान्‌ | कृष्णाजिनोत्तरासंगानब्रवीच्च युधिष्ठिरम्‌,भगवान्‌ श्रीकृष्ण भी कुन्तीपुत्रोंकी उस अवस्थामें काला मृगचर्म ओढ़कर आये हुए देख उस समय अमर्षमें भर गये और युधिष्ठिरसे इस प्रकार बोले---

sañjaya uvāca |

amarṣito hi kṛṣṇo 'pi dṛṣṭvā pārthāṃs tathā gatān |

kṛṣṇājinottarāsaṅgān abravīc ca yudhiṣṭhiram ||

Sañjaya sprach: Selbst Kṛṣṇa, als er die Söhne der Pṛthā (Kuntīs Söhne) in einen solchen Zustand herabgesunken sah—mit schwarzen Antilopenfellen als Obergewand—wurde von Zorn erfüllt und redete Yudhiṣṭhira wie folgt an.

The verse highlights righteous indignation (amarṣa) in the face of adharma: when the virtuous are humiliated and forced into hardship, a dharmic response is required—neither passive acceptance of injustice nor uncontrolled rage, but principled action guided by duty and moral order.

Sañjaya narrates that Kṛṣṇa sees the Pāṇḍavas in a reduced, ascetic condition, wearing black antelope-skins as upper garments. Moved to indignation, he begins to speak to Yudhiṣṭhira, setting up counsel and resolve in response to the wrongs done to them.
